While travelling in ZA (and living in NZ) I took a lot of photos, using the 'email size' so that I could fit them all on my memory stick and later download them on my laptop, to send/email some of them overseas.
What I wasn't considering was that one day I might wanna print some of my favourite photos.
I haven't tried it yet, as I'm afraid of facing the truth and picking up some real bad quality pictures from the shop.
I guess I just f... it up!
It all depends on what "e-mail size" really means. Most often the worst quality setting on a digital camera is quite good enough for your regular 4x6 quality photograph.
On the other hand, if you chose that setting on an older camera (say something less than 3MP), then you can simply print smaller sized pictures (i.e. you're right about the f*** up)
My camera has got 4.1 MP, so u reckon I should b ne? I'm gonna trust ur answer
Might just have a try and get some printed to see how they work out
If the resolution of the "email size" images is anything less than 1800x1200, you're going to notice a lack of quality when having them printed. With less than 1080x720, don't even try.
The ones you've uploaded here to travellerspoint seem to be 640x480. I hope you resized those to be even smaller size than "email size" before uploading them. If not, and those are the same, then there's really nothing to be done for it.
edit: Okay, so I went a bit further, downloaded one of your images, looked at the EXIF information, which told me it was taken with a Sony DSC-P73, downloaded the manual of that, and looked at what they called email size. And that's indeed 640x480. So, nothing to be done for it - consider it a learning experience, and make certain you have plenty of backups so you can at least always look at them on screen.
