I'm going to travel from Malaysia to Phnom Penh coming Jun. I plan my vacation with my friends 2days in Phom Penh and then we will travel to Seam Reap for 3 days. We might choose to travel by Bus in the evening and reach there at night but I was wandering how frequent is the bus traveling from Phnom Penh to Seam Reap. Could anyone help me out?
The last bus from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap leaves at 2pm unless there is a holiday Chinese New or Khmer New Year when there would be more buses on.
You can get a taxi from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap for around 45$ and it takes around 4 hours but that is during the day. You will probably have to pay about 60$ if you want to leave in the evening.
It is not wise to travel in the dark though as there are no lights on the road only the car lights which make it unsafe to travel in the dark.
[ Edit: sorry, no promos in the forum please. ]
You can also get a boat. As far as I remember, it takes 4-5 hours and costs $25.
If this is a trip in 4 months- why would you be so attached to wanting to travel at night?? In general travel during daylight is much safer than travel at night in Asia, and there are multiple cheap, easy buses from PP to Siem Reap . Unless you have a really good reason , I would not go out of my way to make things more difficult.
I flew, cost me 50 bucks (5 years ago)

Any idea how much the buses are in general from PP to SR? is there a website i can look up? i've seen the open tour bus from hanoi to saigon on the net, wondered if theres online access to this one too?
oh, also, any idea about travel to Sihanoukville from PP?
Darren- If i remember correctly both PP to Siem Reap and PP to Sihanoukville are only like 4-5 dollars ( no more than 6 or 7).. You really don'y need to worry too much as when you get there , there are tons of guesthouses or small tourist travel agents that can book bus tickets.
Any tips on accommodation there?
Siam Reap - try Popular Guest House, near the old market, about $7 for single fan room, really clean, cable tv, wicked little roof top restaurant and helpful staff
PP - Diamond Guest House (cant remember street name, but about 2 blocks from the river, 7 mins walk north of the palace). $6 single fan room. Just liked the guys there...
Mekong Express PP to SR is US$9
