I was just curious about applying for the NZ Working Holiday Visa...I've noticed you need to have a certain amount of money in the bank for an approval to take place. Does anyone know how strict this tends to be? I'd like to pull the trigger on this but I dont have the necessary funds, according to the website, to make it happen.
Also, can anyone tell me what kind of jobs/$$ to expect once arriving in NZ?
Pls advise, thx.
I wasnt asked for proof of funds when I arrived. Most people aren't it seems, so I'd say go for it and see what happens
As far as I know, you have to have money in the bank for the Aussie visa (and if you don't have enough you get your parents/friends etc. to put money in your account, print off a bank statement and then give the money back) and for the NZ you're meant to have the required amount in the bank at the time of arrival but don't need it there when you apply for the visa. I've never known of anyone to be checked though and I certainly wasn't.
I pretty much just picked fruit while I was there and the money wasn't the best but only because the weather was cold and rainy all the time and my work ethic was crap. If you've got more motivation than me though and get onto a good farm (very important) then you'll do ok. At one stage I think I was making $11.50-$12 before tax per hor for pears. But it's more likely you'll be paid by bin and I think it ranged from $25-30 before tax. This was all in the Hastings area.
As for other jobs, don't really know, sorry!
