Singapore IS an island. The causeway that connects to Malaysia is man-made, completed in 1923.

If it's connected by causeway, bridge, tunnel or whatever than the island feeling is gone

A country that is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been taken over by a European power.
it is Known as the thousands shrine.

It's in the Pacific and starts with a T! That leaves about 2 or 3 countries I guess
