Guilin, Yangshuo, how long?

Travel Forums Asia Guilin, Yangshuo, how long?

I'll be travelling through china (last 2 weeks of May) and the place i'm most looking forward to is Guilin and Yangshuo, after seeing so many amazing pictures of the scenery, or watching chinese films set there e.g. parts of "Hero".

Has anyone been there, if so, how long do you think i could stay there without gettin bored? Or is it the kind of place you could stay indefinitely?

Any recommendations on what to do when i'm there, any must dos / sees?

Tom

if you like the small town with laid bak atmosphere you should stay there about one week, it is a place you must vist and you will enjoy the natural landscape as well as know the customs and habbit of local people, on Guilin you should visit reed flute cave, solitary beauty peak, seven star park and li river cruise, yangshuo you should visit moon hill, water cave and bamboo boat rafting.

i think too many people there, not very fun. don't expect too much~~
Yangshuo is a place for relaxing, you could have a ship tour in Li River there, and then have bike tour to Yulong River, try the bamboo raft! May could be a good season to go there.

The taro in Yangshuo is good, but only try it in small family run restaurant in the villages. Of course, i am not sure if western people would love the taste.

the bike rental could be about 10RMB/day.

Where would be the best scenic places to visit that aren't overcrowded like Guilin?
