alternate info sources needed

Travel Forums General Talk alternate info sources needed

My wife and I are elder folk and are planning a tour to the MidEast in Oct. Both of us use prescription and non-prescription meds.

I've corresponded with each country's embassy to find out what they will allow us to bring in, and what documentation we'll need accompanying our meds.

The problem has been Israel. Their embassy referred me to Customs for this question (makes sense). Israeli customs doesnt respond to email.

Any ideas of alternate sources I can go to in order to get valid info on this topic?

Have you consulted a guidebook, like Footprint or LP? They're usually quite accurate on such issues.

Have you contacted the consulate to get a contact phone number for the Israel customs to have a talk with someone who can maybe advise you?

Have you contacted our own (US) embassy here in the states and/or in Israel? If you aren't getting any help through the Israeli consulate or customs, the American embassy in Israel should still have the information you need. I would also consider contacting the US Customs office as they may have information too.

Have you spoken with your personal physician(s)? Many times they have contact numbers or are able to access the required information more easily through their professional organizations.

I did a pretty thorough search of the CDC's website but found nothing that would be of any help. Other organizations which should have resources are World Health Org. (WHO) and the Red Cross.

Very good ideas. I'm working on all of them. Thanks.
