twig has indicated that this thread is about Fiji

I am heading to Fiji for a week in July for a wedding but don't want to stay in the same place (Denarau) for the entire time. Where is good to visit, not too far from Denarau and is it necessary to stay in expensive resorts as there are a LOT in Fiji I've noticed.

Nananu i Ra island is a beautiful little island on the north of Viti Levu. The perfect place to relax or windsurf, snorkel... I stayed at Safari Island Lodge, it was a really nice place, only 2 hours from Nadi/Denarau. They picked me up at the airport. they have all kind of accomodation: from dorm to private beach bure. I stayed in a private room with my own bathroom. Check out their website ;)

Mongo Bay Resort is nice. It's on the South Coast of Viti Levu on the Coral Coast. Beautiful beach, diving and good partying. It is a resort but it's casts itself as a 'flashpacker resort' so you meet lot's of sound people. The dorms are good and the owner is always leading the drinking games. Pretty cheap for diving but it's not amazing.

Stay in Nadi as little time as possible. It's a hellhole.

Sorry forgot to mention, it's pretty cheap for standard of the place. It was F$35.00 when I was there which is damn cheap in Fiji for what you get.
