Travel Forums System Talk different countries under thread

hello all.

i have a suggestion to improve this website.

now the system goes by continent - means, all the information regarding the continent will fall under one continent.

however, one continent has a lot of countries, and sometimes i feel that it would be better to separate out the countries instead of lumping them under one big continent. for example, i have questions on malaysia. so, if the new system is implemented, i will go under ASIA -> MALAYSIA. i feel that this is easier to find what i want instead of the current system.

what you guys think?

I have seen that on other boards, and frankly a lot of the countries get no traffic. It makes things seem too quiet, and people are less likely to see information / questions about questions for countries that they don't check. Personally, I don't like that idea.

I could see spliting some of the forums into chunks, which has been discussed before, specifically, moving Asia into a few separate areas.

This suggestion has come up before but we've always chosen not to go down this path. The main reason is that you'd end up with 240 or so forums, and then what happens if someone is travelling to three countries. Do you post in all three, or just one etc.? It's a great way to create a forum with a lot of posts, but no real information.

FYI, if you are after all threads about Malaysia (for example), the search system on TP has just been redone and is really quite good, plus it allows you to search all of TP or just the forums/just the photos/just the members etc.

Example:
All Malaysia threads
All Malaysia photos
Just about everything on Travellerspoint regarding Malaysia

I don't think we'll ever do the breaking down on a country level I'm afraid

This suggestion reminds me of the genres and sub genres of music that you see in iTunes.

Genre:
- Dance

Sub-Genre:
- breakbeat
- exercise
- garage
- hardcore
- house
- jungle
- etc, etc, etc.

It just becomes a bit mind boggling.
