Mr Cobban
I read your speech in this thread and another thread, you know iranian important persons
you know iranian author, also, that's great ,but i am not agree with all of your speech.

So what don't you agree with? The facts I mentioned or my opinion of Shiite clerics/scholars. Which other thread?

Thanks Mr Kalav
I am not agree with all of your speech especially your the second paragraph.
I think it is not true at all.
Beerman's paragraph 2 is extremely accurate. Islam is the only faith and culture breeding murderous martyrs seeking paradise and the promise of 72 virgins.
(BBC November 2006) An Argentine judge has issued an arrest warrant for former Iranian President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani over the 1994 bombing in Buenos Aires. The federal judge also issued international arrest warrants for eight other ex-Iranian officials.
Argentina accused former authorities in Tehran of masterminding the attack on Buenos Aires' Jewish Centre in which 85 people died. Iranian authorities were accused by Argentine prosecutors of directing Lebanese militia group Hezbollah to carry out the attack, which also injured 300 people.(BBC)

Mr Peter
it is very interesting for me , you speak in this way but another person tell Iran is known as "The Great Satan" in Australia.

Mr Peter was surely taking the piss!!! I don't know any aussies who actually gives a tinker's cuss about Iran just as long as it's murderous theocracy keeps to itself. The problem is, it won't.

Mr Niel
Islam is a peace religion, why people afraid of muslims?
The evidence. Mullahs/Ayatollahs screaming for jihad, murder and beheadings (Rushdie, Irshad Manji, Van Gogh, danish cartoonists, the Pope), the destruction of Israel, head-lopping, hand-lopping, etc proves the exact opposite.

Mr Michael(mikeyBoab)
was not funny your question?
Oh yes it was.

Wouterr,
Would my last post be freaky if I were posting some pertinent facts and opinions about the Bush administration (Duck Cheney, etc), or Nazi Germany (Gregor Strasser, Der Sturmer, Sturmabteilung, SS, Treblinka, Babi Yar, Kristalnacht, Bergen-Belsen, Malmedy, Lidice, Oradour-sur-Glane, etc) or Bolshevism (Stalin, Beria, Yagoda, Dhzerzinsky, Lubyanka, Mao, Pol Pot, Chewchessque, Hoeneker, Wolff, Gulag, KGB, etc).
I don't think so.
Any facts or opinions I may post in a TP thread is open to any counter-argument from a member, and if my facts or opinions are found to be total bollocks, then I deserve both barrels (metaphorically speaking of course!!!).
All that Elnaz has replied with is meaningless expressions such as 'I don't agree with all of it', 'it is not true', 'Islam is a religion of peace' and 'not funny'.
No reasoned refuttal, nothing but bland platitudes.
I would find the fact that a fellow Dutchman can be ritually slaughtered in an Amsterdam street with a death threat for Hirsi Ali thrust into his chest much more freaky than someone posting his opinion about it.
Perhaps that just me.

Which part of the second paragraph? I can explain further to clear any confusion.

I was only speaking of what we see on the news here in the West. I was not making any judgements against the validity of Islam.

I thought wotthefiqhs reply was fantastic. Kind of what I was thinking but didn't have the vocabulary to put into words quite so eloquently.

My friend. I would consider for myself what issues you have with islam. Do you hate it or reject it?

First, there is no need to apologize, a misunderstanding should be discussed. Second, you do not need to address me so formally, but I appreciate the sentiment....Kris will do just fine.

I think murder, especially in the name of religion, is abominable. It does not matter which religion the murderer practices.

The point I was trying to get across (you did ask about the propaganda) was that, in the West, the news organizations are constantly reporting (really, all the time!!) that Shias are killing Sunnis, Sunnis are killing Shias, Muslim Clerics declaring Jihad on any Westerner, and that Osama bin Laden is still at large. Why should bin Laden, the man who claimed responsibility for the murder of 3000 people, not only be allowed to roam free, but also be protected and revered by people? And why should I, as a Westerner, have a Jihad declared on me? What did I ever do to warrant that?

And I'm not saying that Christians and Jews are innocent of murder....there are many cases in point. But the majority of news in the West is currently about Islamic terrorists. Mind you, don't get me started talking about George Bush...I have my own extreme views about him and the downfall of Western Civilization....

I think it has been said already, but I also would think that the majority of Iranian people are not mindlessly agreeing with their government. I saw a news report the other day, ABC News I believe, that showed that a majority of merchants in Tehran's Central Market are not happy with the government because the apparent frenzy to acquire nuclear weapons has been bad for their business. I have also seen reports that young Iranians like the freedom to play paintball, and race go-karts, and ski, and many of the things they should normally be able to do. They do not want to have their society become strictly Islamic, because they would have to give up some of those freedoms.

Lastly, I must admit, I find the concept of women wearing burkas (or some such headcovering) to be truly distasteful personally. I will staunchly defend any woman's right to do as they wish, including covering up, but as for me, I find it to be a shameful male humiliation of women. I know the religious explanation behind the concept....but for me, it is equivalent to a Southern Baptist Christian demanding that his wife walk 3 paces behind him (they do). Again, just my opinion, and not fact for everyone.

I hope this clears up a few misunderstandings.
