Hi everyone

I am just wondering if you can give me some advice on the best places to go and best things to see in Europe in November/December. I know it is not the best time to travel Europe but we are heading to the USA for Christmas and doing Europe beforehand (I am Australian).

We really want to go to Germany, Prague, Spain, Italy and maybe France or other places which might be best in these months. I have done a bit of research on the net but would really love to hear from people with a bit of travelling experience.

We want to see cultural things to get the most out of our experience, see the famous landmarks etc, experience the nightlife, maybe do some skiing........ We want to get the best out of our holiday!!

Any advice or tips would be most greatly appreciated.

Best regards and thank you

regards

I can't speak for the rest of Europe, but I think that December is an excellent time to visit Germany. Beginning with the 1st Advent Sunday you will find Christmas markets everywhere; they can often be a little kitschy, but at the same time are fun, convivial places to see and meet other people, drink a little mulled wine and enjoy the good cheer of the Advent season. Most of the markets close up right before Christmas Eve.

At the same time, in northern Germany at least, the winter is not yet so terribly cold.

Hello Miller

I think November and December are better times than u think, to visit Europe. Christmas decorated cities are beautiful, especially if it snows.
And the Christmas markets, in every town in Germany are postcard pretty. Hang out at them, and drink gluh wein, to warm up.

Which places in Germany, do u want to visit? I live in Germany. If u are going to Munich and Hamburg, I will be able to help u with nightlife info.
Also, what type of night life do u like?

Mel

Hi everyone

Thank you so much for all the replies. I am very excited to hear that Nov/Dec won't actually be that bad!!

Mel - we are definitely wanting to visit Munich. As for nightlife - going out to eat and have a few beers. Maybe a little clubbing!

So Germany are Venice are recommended - anywhere else you can suggest??

Thank you all again for your replies :) Much appreciated :)
