Sgt Pepper has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

We only have two wks in Thailand starting 4th June 2007, we fly in to Bangkok and im just wondering, what direction we should set off in and the hot spots we should'nt miss?I know its a tight squeeze but any advice would be great.

June is rainy season check weather a week in advance to get an idea..

it's not quite good time to go down south for beaching unless you go to koh samui instead. ( it's in andaman gulf ).

a must see in bangkok is grand palace , reclining buddha temple and golden buddha temple ( can finish in a half day ). spend 2 - 3 days here in bangkok

then head to chiang mai or samui ( samui is more costy of course )

Not much rain in June, just a possible short shower in the afternoon and again late at night. if you go the the beaches the wind and high waves are the real problem.

Here is a blog I wrote about how to plan your Thailand trip here at TP.

Hope this helps.

Hello Sgt Pepper

If I only had 2 weeks, like u do, I would choose 2 destinations, in Thailand, so u will have time to relax and enjoy them.
Last time I was in Thailand, I went to Koh Pha Ngan and Kanchanaburi.
I reccomend both. I also was in Bangkok. It is good for a few days.
I went to Koh Samui, and dont recommmend it.

Cheers Mel, the plan at the moment is stay in Bangkok for a few days then travel in the direction of Ko Pha Nang & Ko Samui stay there for as long as possible then as the 2wks comes to a close make the trip back to Bangkok to catch are flight.I must check out Kanchanaburi and see what it has to offer. On a side note how much do u reckon we'll spend in 2wks in Thailand? Just a rough estimate if u can including travel and accomodation. Thanks for the replies very helpful. Slan

How much u will spend.

Between 5 and 15 Euros per day.
And, when u are leaving, there is an airport departure tax of around 20 euros.

Hey - I think most travellers would recommend Koh Pha Ngan over Koh Samui as Koh Samui is very highly developed for the package tour industry.

Ko Pha Nang seems to be cropping up a lot so we'll def be heading there, i hear thats where the full moon parties are but unfortunately we miss it in June, but i'd say Ko Pha Nang is pretty lively all the time? I think as we are so close to Ko Samui we should make the short trip over aswell.Seems pretty cheap at 15 euros a day, nice 1 and cheers for the heads up on the airport tax. ha ha
