I have been bullied into booking a flight to Majorca with my mum this year (long story but I think her feeling was if she went on for long enough I wouldn't escape off to Argentina or somewhere alone for the first time). So there are 10 of us, they are laying on a beach people, I am most definately not. Find me a hill to climb, a church to visit, something to be doing continaully places to photograph, some wreck or ruin my family would call that heap of rubble. Ok its going to be hell isn't it??

PLEASE tell me there is something to do and see for a week, that I'm going to cope with this. I haven't started looking for things to do yet cos I'm too worried tell me there is something to do on the island please.

Thanks in advance

my advice! escape to Argentinia;). Is it true that you are 30? I hate going on holiday with family (except with my brother or sister)....

just about still 30 yep, but newly single and the family are busy rallying round me (totally unrequired and not necessary). I have a feeling its the sort of holiday that requires a suitcase, I don't own one, have rucksack will travel has been the way I've travelled for years. Think she's still in panic after I trotted off to Prague for New Year alone.

Again!!! ESCAPE

I would die if I were you, or my family wouldn't see me the entire holiday;). Go now, but never do it again if you don't like it. For me going alone is 1.000.000.000 times better then going with my dear mum.

Mum, if you read this. I am very sorry

Hey Sarah

My other half went to Majorca a couple of years back out of season for a work conference - he was impressed with Palma capital city said it was very pretty - now you are likely going to one of the resorts - Alcudia etc etc - but what l would suggest is maybe making a compromise with your mum - that you will go with her for the week to keep her happy but that you intend going off for at least an overnight - hire a car, and go and explore - get away from the hordes of European tourists hell bend on getting a sun tan and drinking themselves into oblivion! Maybe head into the centre of the island way from the popular costal resorts.

Research the island online -there must be more to Majorca than sun sea and sangria!

Good Luck - and just think you have made your mum very happy!

Heather said it already, get to the inland, if possible rent a car, there is a lot to explore on Mallorca, it's not just the beaches.

There are a lot of natural spots and interesting places to explore, and the other islands Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, are even more beautiful.
Check this web.

(if you don't like it try to hide yourself into a container ship to Argentina)

Hello Sara

I think Palma de Mallorca has a nice cathedral. I didn't do too much tourism when i was there, as it was my high shcool trip, so we concentrated on other stuf.. heh, but I can tell you the centre of the town ahs some very nice streets as well, definitely worth a picture or ten ;)

Idea 1.. Bring your laptop.
Idea 2... Bring me?
Idea 3.... Bring a disguise and run away frm them!!

In fairness, it probably wont be that bad at all.. Just think, this might be a regular family outing...

I pity you for having the family you have :)

That said, Mallorca isn't that bad I've heard. As the other posters basically said, there's plenty to see away from the resorts, both cul- and naturewise.
