2 Weeks in Canada - What backpack should i get?

Travel Forums Travel Gear 2 Weeks in Canada - What backpack should i get?

I'm off to Canada for 2 weeks in June (toronto/vancouver) and was just wondering what size backpack i should get :)

I'll be taking a daypack for my camera, laptop, and other bits, but just need one for all my clothes and other things that i don't need when i'm out and about during the day!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

Don't bother with any sort of backpack.

Since you won't be camping a wheeled bag will be much easier to use.

I live in Vancouver and the sight of newbies struggling under mountainous loads is commonplace-if only they knew....

a wheeled pack / backpack whatever you want is up to you.

but i will encourage you to get a backpack so that you can use your pack for your future trips, in case you may be moving around more.

Just to let you know, i plan on staying a hostel for 5days in toronto, then over to victoria and vancouver where i'll stay in hotels. I have a small hard wheely case, but i'm not sure that's the most suitable thing? Maybe a backpack would be better? Though not having been on many holidays recently i'm not so sure!

A small wheeled case and a day bag is lots of capacity and makes moving about much much easier.

There's nothing in this country that rates a large capacity bag for 2 weeks visit.

even if just going for a camp, a backpack is fine. backpack is more of convenience sake for you to move around easier.

OP has already said he's staying in hotels.
Anyone who thinks that carrying a bag on their bag is easier than wheeling it down the street hasn't travelled much at all.

Hi it depends how far you want to carry the bag and ultimately what you feel most comfotable with. Personally if I was staying in cities I would want a suitcase with wheels but when I go on my hols in july I'm taking my backpack as I will be going from city to city one after another on trains. You must remember that a backpack is not as protected as a suitcase and may be damaged by baggage handlers on the plane.
