kody has indicated that this thread is about Indonesia

Hi all,

Anyone have any idea, where is the best place near the beach to stay in Bali Indonesia? I'm planning to head there in month of September? A moderate hotel will do.
Pls advise.

Hi Kody

There are many places to stay near the beach in Bali. The most well-known/favourite party beach is Kuta. A few places near beach are:
1. Kuta Puri, just behind McDonald's that is facing the sea. It is also next to an Internet rental. Good for budget.
2. Harris Resort
3. Mercure hotel

If you want water sports you can go to Sanur or Nusa Dua, or even cruise to the nearby islands Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida.

If you have more questions, drop me a line ;)

Kuta is near the airport. You can easily get there by taxi.

Besides beaches what others place of attraction that is a "must go" for visiting?

If you want to see Bali, you must see the temples and at least one of the traditional dances.

My favorite temple is Uluwatu Temple. Other well-known temples are Tanah Lot, Besakih (mother temple), Bedugul... and there are still many others.

The most amazing dance performance is Kecak dance during sunset in Uluwatu. If you don't get the chance to see it, just go to Batubulan and see Barong dance and/or Keris dance.

If you like hills and canyons, go to Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) park in Jimbaran. Jimbaran is also famous for sea food.

For quiter atmosphere than Kuta, spend a couple of nights in Ubud. There is Monkey Forest with temples inside. I can also recommend you a budget accommodation there. You can rent a bike.

In Bali you will find many adventure tours offer (rafting, bicycling, hiking, etc.). If you are interested I can give you some references.

Have fun planning!

Of course I would love to. But I only have a few days there.
Roughly about 4 days 3 nights. How many days will you recommend if to have a moderate and relaxing tour.
Yeah...temple is a must go place. :)

Is those places you mentioned distance away frm the Kuta Beach?

You can take day-trips from Kuta to Uluwatu, Jimbaran, Nusa Dua. For You can go to Nusa Dua in the morning, Uluwatu in the afternoon and/or Jimbaran late afternoon till dinner.

I would say 5 -7 days is nice for visiting enough places and relaxing. Ubud is nice for relaxing ;)

Just wondering how's thing there after the mass bombing in Bali? Will it be safe to go somewhere in this coming September?

The bombing was in 2002, now Bali is already "back". Actually I had a vacation there last February. It was not peak season (as the peak season is July-August) but it was obvious that Bali is back to live already. Many ppl have been back to Bali for either vacation or business. And not long ago a friend from Canada was just there on his RTW trip. :)
