Hi

I uploaded my first videos today using the Fliqz service through the control panel. However, the videos do not have any sound.

Is this a known limitation or is there something wrong?

(I realise this is a 3rd party provider bu thought I'd start here :)

The files were type .mpeg

Also, a minor point, the preview image in the 'manage my videos' page cannot be found (no src image)

Utility belts and capes on please

cheers

phil

Hmm, the videos should have sound (example here)! I double checked a few videos from over the past days and generally sound wasn't an issue.

I think this might have something to do with the encoding process and sound + img preview perhaps being generated later in the process (so the video plays, but the sound and that preview image don't show until they're ready, which might take 24 to 48 hours).

I'll have to double check with fliqz though to see if there can be a case-by-case issue that might cause probs; can you let me know what the video title was (or what is was about) - PM is fine if you don't want to let everyone know ;)

Is the source file that you uploaded playing with sound? What kind of software did you use to export the Mpeg?
I can't see any reason why the sound would not be uploaded together with the video unless there's something gone wrong while creating the mpeg file. What format did you export the file (Mpeg 4)? Or did the sound get exported at a very low level? (But you should still be hearing sound if you turn up the volumes).

Hello,
My name is Rich and I work at Fliqz. Please copy, paste and email the address of the video to rhenry at fliqz dot com.

To do this, please click on the video and once the video page opens up copy and paste the address to me. I will look at this file and see what is going on. As soon as I find out I will let you know!

Thanks,
Rich Henry

Hi

Thanks all for your help with this. The links you'll need are:

Blog Entry

Fliqz Source File

(There's another example on this page also.)

There is sound in the source file. I created the video using Windows Movie Maker from an MPEG recorded on a Sony DSC-T1 camera which I think is MPEG3. The file uploaded is of type WMV (Windows Media Audio/Video) and is 1.3Mb in size.

I uploaded the same file again today to test and this time I see a preview image of the file on the travellerspoint upload page which was missing on the first attempt where I see the problem. I can't yet view the file as something has to happen on your end first for it to display but this looks more promising.

Perhaps an intermittent problem.

Thanks for your help

Phil

I uploaded the same file again today to test

This worked perfectly - sound, preview and video working just great.

see it here

I didn't do anything differently although the upload was much quicker and the delay between upload and your verify process before the video can be played was much much quicker. I think I waited 30 mins for the first file with no sound then gave up till the next day.

So def an intermittent problem or someting thats since been fixed. Perhas worth a look for you guys but no major headache for me - I'll ust upload the files again.

Cheers!

The new version of your video looks amazing! The whales song in the background is very cool. Did you add the whale sound or did it record it from the actual dive?

One other question, did you alter the size of the player? It played back at a much larger screen then I am used to seeing. That was nice as well! I hope to see more of your videos soon.

So you know, I asked one of our techs to look at your previous video and for one reason or another the sound did not upload with the video. It was very odd...

Good luck filming more aquatic adventures. Don't hestitate to contact me in the future.

Hi Rich

Thanks for looking into this.

Yes, the whale song is genuine. I couldn't hear a thing at the time of the dive however when I played the video back when I got hme I noticed it. It is a pair of humpbacks - a calf calling in distress calling to it's mother. I had it checked out by the University of BC in Victoria and they know this pair.

If you're willing to sponsor me to continue my aquatic advebtures, I'll gladly wear a fliqz t-shirt on my dives ;)

Cheers

Phil

Would you plaese provide me with the embed link for your video? This way I can track down the video and figure out what is going on behind the scenes. Then hopefully fix it for you!

This is a pretty old thread and I think the video in question was removed ages ago....
