I remember seeing some giant glogs that 2 people can sit in and sail on a lake in in a brochure in Holland once, but I can't find anything about it on the net and want to visit there next week. I have no idea whereabouts it was, just that the clogs were yellow!
Can anyone tell me where these clogs are, so I know I'm not going mad?
Maybe they were in Islemeer, but I may have imagined that.
Thanks very much in advance
Hi Evenflow and welcome!
Hmmm, I live here in Holland but would not know if what you are after still exists... I have never seen the boats and my roommate also hasn't heard of them. The only places I can really think they might be would be Amsterdam (and I have definitely never seen them there) or a real touristy area like the Zaanse schans.
I would sincerely doubt them being on the Ijselmeer; it would just be too big and dangerous. More likely they are on a very small lake in a resort or something similar....
Let us know if you find them; would be kind of fun to try them out one day
These clog boats are in Amsterdam (or at least they used to be). I remember seeing
postcards and pictures of them at some stage. I did a search on the internet for
'klompboot' which is dutch for clogboat and found a few pictures, but no information
on where you can get on one. I did find one picture of one in 1998 though, which has
a phone number on it - it's not much but it is a start and confirms you're not going
mad Here's the link:
Hope that's of some help, sorry I'm not able to offer more information.
I too have been asking around about this (it got me curious ).
I was in Volendam yesterday which is where they could have been (also sits on the Ijselmeer) but nothing there to be found. In Amsterdam today...didn't spot them there either but it is a big city. After some asking around, no one has been able to pinpoint them, although they do ring a bell for quite a few people. I think it might be something of the past unfortunately....
Will keep you posted if I find out more info!
