Hey, im going to oz with ozintro in july and i am looking for some help!! advice on general things, bars, places to go, stay etc!! im staying in sydney for the first week then off up the east coast i think!! what would people say is the best transport up the east coast and where should i stop off??!!!
Also, i am looking for some work while out there - preferably with horses - has anyone done this? if so where would you recomend as i know its more difficult to find as not the usual traveller jobs!! i am an experienced horse rider and its my proffession back in the UK!! although i am happy to do other work too - what would people suggest for enough money to keep me going out there?!!!
Id appreciate any help,

You'll have a great time with ozintro and i'm assuming your staying in coogee or bondi at surfside backpackers which are both cool and it's really easy to make friends there so thats one thing less to worry about.... as for bars and clubs....well i'm sure someone will introduce you to the coogee bay hotel and the palace...both top nights out in coogee...!!!
As for the travelling aspect of your trip,i booked myself on the greyhound bus which does the entire east coast up to cairns, stopping everywhere thats worth seeing... you can get tickets that last as long as you like and you can get on and off wherever you like.....some good places to see are.....
Byron Bay......(stay at Arts Factory in a Teepee)
Gold Coast.....(surfers paradise and loads of theme parks)
Hervey bay....(fraser island and whale watching)
airlie beach....(whitsundays and diving on the reef)
townsville......(magnetic island....fantastic sunsets at horseshoe bay)
mission beach.(sky dive with pauls parachuting)
cairns............(cape tribulation and Kuranda).
Anyway....have a great time you lucky sod...i wish i was back there.
Danny appears to have covered it well with exception of the horses bit. Not sure what sort of horse work you are into but if you can ride trackwork then ring the Australian Jockey Club and they will put you onto a trainer or trainers. If it is just equestrian work in general that is a bit tougher. You would need to go to the country areas and perhaps do some farm work. That could be out of your way considering what you want to do.
We travelled oz for a few months and found that the best way was by campervan.
If there is 2 or 3 of you, this is definatley the cheapest and most comfortable option.
The east coast of oz is really nice.
Campervans are really easy and lets you explore off the beaten tourist track, small towns like Jervis Bay on the NSW south coast.
Have a great trip
south coast of nsw was really beautiful, dont miss it.
