I know this is a very general question but I just wondered what peoples opinions were on the best banks to bank your money with whilst on a RTW.Obviously you want somewhere, where there are lots of branches worldwide etc and also one that doesnt charge you for withdrawing your money abroad.
Anyone got any good advice or bad experiences etc of different banks.
hsbc and barclays both do good deals for international use depends what else you want in it such as direct debits etc etc
Nationwide have been amazing. Everything is fee free and calling to arrange an emergency overdraft took all of ten mins. couldn't recommend them any more. (only available to UK residents though!)
I've just gone for the Nationwide option.
Some of my friends who regularly go travelling also use the same account.
Going along the same lines, does anyone know the best Canadian Bank for travelling?
I know that ScotiaBank has an alliance with some major banks around the world, and that it waives atm fees if you use those banks, but any other good "deals" that people know of?
Yeah, it's free to withdraw money with a Nationwide debit card abroad (apart from the weird countries like Vietnam who charge you themselves...but at least you don't get charged twice!!!). It saves the hassle of carrying and having to cash travellers cheques all the time (but do carry some, especially if going to countries with few ATMs, like Laos). I'd definitely recommend Nationwide.
