I hope to be emmigrating to Perth early next year,I have recently bought a sony lcd tv,can anyone tell me if it will work in Australia.I have searched the web and can't find any info on this.

I would assume that all you would need is an adapter for the plug. Depending on the voltage, a transformer too. Shouldnt be more of an issue than that!

Would agree that all you need is an adaptor to take our 240 watts system. That or you go to an electrician and get him to cut off the current adaptor and refit an Australian one. No other reason I can see why the set would not work here unless it travels poorly. Trust you have been to Perth (WA) before. Lovely city, weather is generally very good but residents feel somewhat estranged from rest of Australia because they are so far away from other mainland capitals hence an attitude of ""we will look after ourselves.''

I know CRT screens once upon a time had issues if they were manufactured for the northern hemisphere and then moved down under - the different 'rotation' of the magnetic field affected some component inside in a way that had a detrimental effect on the picture quality.
I've never heard about something similar for LCD TVs, but that's not to say it doesn't exist either (I try to know as little as possible about hardware and electronics). I'd go and try to find someone in the electronics business who would know.
