I need some suggestion about arriving early in the morning (02:20) in Istambul at Sabiha Gökçen airport?
Is there still puplic transport running at that time?
Are there cheap accomodation around this aera?
How much for a taxi ride to the center?
Is there a backpackers aera in town, maybe a rec. hostel?
Thanks for answering...
ooh theres not much in that area at all! No hostels as far as Iv seen. maybe some chepa hotels...taxi would cost about 80-100 Lira and might be ur best option. Im assuming ur taking German Wings? all thier flights arrive late night eh?!
There is a shuttle bus service, takes you to the city center. Not expensive. DO NOT take a cab, it'll cost you 100 YTL (almost 80 dıollars).

If you will be on the European side, you can take the shuttle bus to Taksim, there is plenty of accomodation there for all budgets but book before your arrival. Sultanahmet area (where Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar are) is the heaven for hostels. But you won't find direct shuttle service to Sultanahmet
I don't know any hotels around the airport, It's pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
Have fun, weather is beautiful here.
Actually, there might be a shuttle bus from Sabiha to Sultanahmet.
I flew with Germanwings from Sabiha Gökcen Airport in August 06 and I was able to book a seat on a shuttle bus from the Sultanahmet area to the airport though my hostel. I was told that the buses would wait at the airport and later pick up passengers coming on the Germanwings flights and going into Istanbul.
If you are at Sultanahmet, I would recommend that you email the hostel you are staying with and inquire about pick-up with these shuttle buses. I stayed at the Istanbul Hostel, 35 Kutlu Gun Sokak, Sultanahmet, Istanbul and they definitely had shuttle service from the hostel to the airports. I think the fee was 15 YTL.
and it's istanbul not istambul
