I am going to travel to Sweden in July and I can not find my passport! I know it is expired, and that I need to renew it however, I can not do so without bloody having my previous passport.

Any reccomendations?

Hello Tusaturnal

I think u may be able to get a new one, with your birth cert.
Just explain to the passport office what happened.

Emma has linked the US Gov main passport page for you to read. Also take a look at this page from the same site. Since your passport was expired, it tells you how to include that information.

Lost or Stolen Passports in the U.S.

Scroll down to the section "To Replace a Lost or Stolen Valid Passport:" and it explains what to do. You will will have to complete a DS-64 form to report your passport as lost. You will also fill out the DS-11 form which is the application for a new one. (I have linked the pdf downloads so you can just print them out.)

Bring both of those forms to your nearest passport acceptance facility - usually your local post office will handle passport applications. Normally, you would be able to apply for a passport online, but since you have to also submit the lost/missing form - it is required you do all this in person.

Don't fret - people lose their passports all of the time. Since yours was already expired, you have even less to worry about. If you passport expired more than 12 months ago, you'd have to apply for a new one anyway. Renewing a passport is only valid for 12 months after the old one has expired. Look at the website, fill out the forms and go to the closest facility. You should have your new passport long before your trip.
