Not entirely sure why I'm asking this here, and I know i'm asking for trouble and unlikely to get many (any?) useful/serious answers, but here goes.

At Easter (or, rather, just after) I should finally get some time off - a couple of weeks is a good bet, maybe 3 or even 4. Dunno. By then time i won't have had a single day off in 3months and thus will need a bit of a rest. And so i'm going to go somewhere. So i'm asking the esteemed Off Topic people (and you - you know who i mean) for ideas/suggestions. I'll probably ignore tham all, but you never know.

I'm not neccessarrily going to stay in the same place all the time, and happy to travel around abit. I don't have anywhere in particular i want to go or avoid and thus my requirements are basically (1) obviously, not involving flying (2) With, say 2weeks off, I need to be within roughly 72hours (max) travel each way from Kobenhavn (3) reasonably cheap and (4) somewhere I can relax and do not much for a few days, but have the option to see/do things if i so want.

Any ideas/offers/suggestions etc considered. There's also probably a prize if i take up somebodies specific suggestion, and definitely a proze if that happens and it's somewhere i've never been (now there's a challenge )

Not 100%, but it's likely that I'll ignore anything involving Penguins, or which Pardus suggests...

Blimey, we'll have to find somewhere you haven't already been first!

Anyway, I'm thinking of the outer hebrides for a short break - that's possible by a couple of boat trips from Copenhagen isn't it?

3 options:
1. Portugal, cities like Porto and Lisbon are great to relax, have a walk now and then, but also sit at some squares, drinking port, vinho verde and enjoying the sun and the people. If you like surfing or a beach, Cascais is close to Lisbon. Or visit another town like Coimbra, roughly in between Porto and Lisbon.
2. Faroer Islands, by boat from Denmark and if staying in hostels not expensive. Ok, it's colder, but that was not one of your requirements.
3. (but I am not sure you have been there): Krimea peninsula. Sightseeing, some cities, beaches (cold probably), some hiking if you want in the hills/mountains.

Iceland can be an option as well, but might be a little too expensive and far away by boat, although you can combine it with Faroer Islands.

Good luck! Michael

Oh,..I forgot to mention Malta;)

I think you and Dolly (that if she's still alive) should do a romantic coastal trip of famous sheep farms. tossing a coin to heading left or right.

Failing that head for a leasurely canal ride through france.

Enjoy your hols buddy, sounds like you've more than earned it.

You haven't seen Montreal yet... can you take a carrier ship? I think it's about $49 for overnight express (that's like 3 Euro). Other than that - Normandy? Beautiful and quiet and filled with history - nice for long walks, Calvados and pastries. Mmm. Pastries. I stayed in an attic room in Caen that was about 23 Euro a night.

I don't know Europe enough to suggest anything obscure. Mijas and Ronda in Spain...?

Travel to Madrid, and get yourself to Extremadura (Spain), and/or Estremadura (Portugal).
