Hey...
I just responded to this, I swear yesterday or the day before. But there is a really cool old mansion in Santa Teresa that has been renovated into a hostel / poussada. It is like 5 minutes from like the center of nightlife... and located in Santa Teresa... it is very cool... internet, pool, and a kickín breakfast. And all for the cheapest price you can find in Rio for a hostel... about 30 reals a night. It is very very cool. If you want a dorm... no need for a reservation since it is very low key and not in any of the guidebooks. It is called Casa Mangomango.... Rua Joaquim Murtinho, 587 -Santa Teresa, just tell the taxi driver -perto lapa. It rocks. Let me know how you like it. The owners name is Julie - she is irish but with two beautiful brasilian kids... but she can help you out with lots of stuff as well.
Take Care,

Brazil is undoubtedly one of South America's finest destinations. From the dense jungles enveloping the mighty Amazon River, to the mountainous terrain on the southern coastline, to the many miles of beautiful sandy beaches, Brazil has something for everyone.
