Xain ci waterfall - you can get a tuk tuk from luang prubang - cant remember how much - its not expensive - there are some wicked sights, water buffalo on the way e.t.c....

Take ballons with you, blow them up and bop them out the back of the tuk tuk when you see kids, they really appreciate it. We popped a few kips in them as well . They dont get much money out there so it was a nice treat for the little ones. Its so wonderful to see their smiling faces when they go charging after a balloon! Im off to thailand and am bring stacks again!!

Yup - gotta be done!! Its so much fun watching them chase them as you wizz by on the tuk tuk - - he he They all wave to say thanks - its cheap for us - but brings them a lot of smiles.

Id say it was the highlight of my trip that year - this one kid chased for ages and when he caught the balloon saw there was money in it - he did an allmighty jump in the air with a fist up - screaming in excitement!! Its was so sweet and an image i will remember and a story i will tell forever!

hey rover,

if ur heading to Lao there is nothing better than tubing down the Nam Tha (???) river in Vang Vieng!!! it is the best way to spend a lazy day if u ask me... its about a 4-5 hr bus ride north of Vientienne - rite in between there and Luang Prabang!

The town of VV aint that special, with a lot of the 'friends' bars that are mentioned all the time (basically restaurants/bars that play re-runs of friends episodes, seinfeld, simpsons etc...), but away from them there is some pretty cool places - like riverside bars with bonfires and 'happy shake' parties all nite!

but the tubing is by far what put this place on the map, and well worth the trek to get to...

theres a guesthouse rite next to the tube hire place - cant remember what it was called but its about 3 stories with huge white concrete stairs visible from the street... run by a family all under the age of 16 - dunno where the parents r! nice rooms for US$5 and only a 2 min stumble from where u drop off ur tube... 10 times better than the place the bus drops u when u first arrive in VV (which is actually miles outta 'town')!
