Because of the mess I made in my life, I have decided to give it all up and sell everything and go the see the world for a year or two.

Have been thinking about it since I was a kid and now I think the time is right for me to do it.

Call me crazy, but I would like to do it a different way... dont want to spend money if possible.....would like to go somewhere, find a job in the back of a restaurant cleaning dishes for a couple of weeks to save up money to get to the next town.

Too risky? Impossible? I dont know, but this is what I always want to do and would like to give it a go.

Any suggestions? Anyone crazy enough to join me for the journey or part of it? Or anyone just want to tell me to forget it? lol

I will start the journey in May I think, although I have not set a firm date yet.

Ian

Too Risky. It'd be possible but unlikely to happen immediately in every place if any. You certainly wouldn't be paid enough to just do it after a couple of weeks working in the back of a restaurant type thing, unless you wanted to just move across one or two towns overland and not bothering to cross countries by flights.

Goodluck in achieving it, but I wouldn't expect to do it without spending all your money and maybe even being like some people I have seen in other countries with signs out on the street begging for people to give them money to get back home to .... country.

In many places you should be able to pick up English teaching jobs which would help to fund your travels.

Sounds romantic, but now the Business Analyst in me will speak:

Timetable. How long do you plan to do this? It could take a very long time for you to circle to globe in the manner you proposed.

Costs. You'll get low-paying jobs, IF you get any job at all. You'll have to pay for lodging the entire time, though. That's going to be costly. I imagine you'll have a difficult time earning enough to travel in this way.

What's the point? You'll be so busy working to make ends meet that you won't have time to do anything fun.

I think you should go to just one place and establish a new life there for a while. I think that's a feasible plan, if nothing else.

Dear friend !
Just dare to do it, and be a the right time at the right moment, dont think about the money, you know that you have an amount of time to spend it, so spend it well... Time is money... but space is a lot of time... usually when you have money... you do not have time... so you rush and take the plane.... and when you do not have money then you have plenty of time to take the train, the bus and even walk for days... take your time, we only live once... just do it
I did it... I m still on the road, travelling the world.. I mean its all depends on what you want in your life, but my advice is if you have a dream... follow it, go for it.. And Good luck the rest are details ..

I say go for it!! If you're determined enough, you'll make it work. I managed to travel this way for a couple of years - it is slow going, but then life is better if you take time to stop and smell the roses

My only advice is have a credit card as a back up in case you get stranded somewhere and can't get work... I found it comforting to know I had an emergency safety net to get a couple of nights accommodation or even a flight home if I really got stuck.

honestly, you only live once, and if you end up taking this trip of a lifetime, you will come out of it with more experience and crazy stories than anyone else you know.

i wish more people would think like this instead of getting caught up in the securities of their precious money and materials...
