Hello all,

I'm hoping some of you might have some recommendations as to hotels in Central and out near the international airport.

My wife and I will be travelling to China for about a month, entering/departing from Hong Kong. We will be by ourselves when we arrive, but will have our adopted infant daughter with us when we return for the flight back to the States.

After arrival, we would like to get up Victoria Peak and out to the outlying islands (Lamma, Chueng Chau, etc.), so we're thinking a hotel in Central near the ferry terminal would probably be best. On the way back home, we'll probably be too exhausted with babe-in-arms to get out to see much and will probably want to find accommodations near the airport for convenience sake.

Do any of you have any recommendations as to places to stay in these locales?

There are lots of hotels in Hong Kong island and Kwoloon. If money is not a problem, I strongly suggest The Peninsula Hotel, which is just adjacent to Victoria Habor, though it is on the Kwoloon island. The reason is very clear, it records the history of Hong Kong. Here is its website: http://www.peninsula.com/

I stayed in the Wan Chai district which was great because you could easily wander round the backstreets and explore the various markets, but you could also walk into central . .although trams and other modes of transport are easy. The hotel was called - The Charterhouse -I got a good price, and the service was excellent, rooms a little bit small but clean and comfy. Definitely consider staying though at the Penisula, fab place and somewhere special may be just the ticket for the travels you describe.
