I will be going to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai & Golden Triangle from 30 March 2007 to 02 April 2007, can someone update me on the current haze conditions in North Thailand.

Any possibility that the haze will be back to a healthy conditions soon?

There has been a big problem with air pollution from fires. In the last 2 days we have had some rain so now the problem is mostly gone.

Guys

Please keep it friendly - l agree that the inital question is a bit vague - and perhaps the users of the forum are not aware of this "haze issue" in Northern Thailand.

THIS DOES NOT HOWEVER MEAN THAT DUE TO THE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING ON THE SUBJECT THAT YOU CAN HIJACK THE THREAD..............

Thanks

Heather

I spent a few days in Chiang Mai last week. We flew up from Bangkok and were very wary due to all of the reports and almost cancelled that leg of the trip. However, it wasn't nearly as bad as we feared--there was a slight smoky smell in the air, but the sun made it out every day and we didn't spend our days gasping for air as we'd feared! The biggest problem we found was all of the burnt areas detracted from the picturesque landscape, but all in all, I'm very happy we went.
