I would rather take anti-malarials and be unlucky enough to get malaria than not take them and risk being lucky enough not to get it. Yes, still take all the precautions you can but it only takes one bite from the wrong mosquito...

Have you been to a travel clinic for expert advice?

95% DEET is probably a bit overkill, I tried 100% DEET in the Congo Jungles which I think is more malarial anyway and it was so strong that it melted my watch strap. So I mixed it with some 20% and it still did the trick. Go with something a bit less hardcore.

Well, I took 50% deet and it was defenetly not enough. Got bitten like hell, even with an impregnated mosquito net... or perhaps it's just me..;
