I am lucky to have a good job after uni, with about 10-11 weeks of holiday a year, which I can take whenever I want. Also, I can choose to take it all in once or just take 20 long weekends a year to visit european cities (not doing that by the way). If I ask for it, they will even probably let me go for 20-22 weeks if I leave at the end of october and return beginning of March.
But I don't like saving for years to travel 1 year and afterwards not travel for years again. I just like to travel several times a year, mostly one or 2 longer trips and some shorter trips (cities, beach sometimes) in between.
I still live cheap (low mortgage) and I am not a big spender on clothes and stuff. Still works for me this way....as long as there are no kids...;)

When u are young, u can do more physically.
When u are older, it will mean more, when u look at the places u visit, through the eyes of experience.
So, dont just travel, when u are young.

Although, Japan likely already is very meaningful, for u, if u are willing to save for years for it. What attracts u, to Japan?;)

Japan really attracts me because of it's culture esp. I love asian culture, it's always been my dream to travel asia [east asia specifically] ... my grandmother would always tell me stories of japan and the life she had there [she lived there until age 20] and it just seems so beautiful ^^ I'm a really culturaly oriented person. I mean your average 18 year old doesn't really care about things like that, most people my age are just thinking of drinking and partying, which i don't like .... but then again most 18 year olds haven't yet met their life parter ^^

So yes I love japanese culture and history. Ah I could go on forever with Japanese history, it's just so beautiful samurai, geisha, ... and Japan even though today very modern holds a lot of it's tradition.

plus the fact that I really really want to see my friend again & the food is to die for, only second to korean food, haha.

Maybe u will turn into a party animal, when u are 30 or 40 and they will be getting interested in culture etc

No drinking is a waste. Why would someone purposly get drunk and waste money on something they won't remember and have a huge headache the next morning to top it off.

I see A LOT of people in the forums who not only take vacations, but LONG vacations. Spanning 8-12 MONTHS! ... I mean where do you get the money to afford to not work for a year ?? ... Please inform me, I wnt in ^^! haha. I'm training to be an ESL teacher, but I mean that doesn't make enough money to travel for a year straight [well unless you count teaching in other countries] .... I've been saving up for my one month Japan trip for almost 2 years now :P.

Some people are wealthy and some not .
but , when you can afford two month living in Japane , it means that you can spend about six month or even higher in other countries , like South-Korea .

I personally , can not effort going out of my country for more than a month.
more than that can damage my life .and just once /3-5 years .regarding to my salary right now.
But , maybe later on , It change

I would tell you if I could remember - mind you now I'll only find out again if I drink some more.... ;)
