I am coming to Malaysia for the 1st time for my Honeymoon from 2nd of Aug till 19 of Aug. I am very tigth on that dating.
I would like to make the best of my visit and try almost every kind of terran and climates. My current plan is as following:
- Arriving around 2200 to KLIA and staying for 2 nights at Sunway Lagoon.
- Flying from there to Langkawi and arriving at 1455. Staying at Sheraton Perdana for 4 nights
- Leaving to Penang (ferry), and staying at Mutiara Beach Resort for 4 nights
- Driving (noon) to Cameron Highlands (arriving 1800 I guess) and staying at the Lakehouse for 2 nights
- Driving to KL after checking out and staying the remaining days and KL Westin
How good this plan is?
Are two nights in Cameron enough? giving that I am driving to and from it?
And if planning to give it more time where should I take it from? giving that am planning for islands hopping from LAG and PEN
IF I want to visit a secluded beach or island to spend few hours from the whole world where do you suggest I should look for?
If you want to visit secluded beaches or islands, I suggest you go to Perhentian Islands (http://www.perhentian.com.my/) or Tioman Island (http://www.tioman.com.my/).
Those are east-side islands, Actually am looking for islands at the western side of Pens. M'sia around Penang or Langkawi.
Thanx for your input
Congrats on your wedding. Your itinerary sounds great. Some very nice hotels there. I used to live very near the Sunway Lagoon.
2 nights in Camerons is fine even if you're driving. We just got back from there incidentally: http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/mycar/camerons/camerons.html
Might take you more like 4 hours from Penang to Camerons -- be careful driving up and down that windy section, take your time and keep to your side of the road since many of the locals know the road so well that they take chances on the corners.
My only recommendation is that you stay in a suite or cottage at Bala's Chalets 05-4911660. We only went there for tea and scones, but sure wish we did stay there. It's got a very homey, English feel -- might be a nice break from fancy hotels kind of thing.
There are no secluded beaches in Malaysia, though since you are driving from Camerons into KL, then you may want to stop at Lumut, then board as a foot passenger on the ferry to Pulau Pangkor and stay at any of the guest houses, or even at the up-market Pangkor Laut. We've been to Pangkor a few times, and it is about as secluded as you can get given it's proximity to the larger cities.
(now back in Canada but lived/worked in KL for 5 years)
The itinerary is just nice! Selamat datang ke Malaysia (welcome to Malaysia) and enjoy your stay!
