If looking for house-share and also to furnish the room u move into I highly recommend checking out - go to the Melbourne pages... theres always someone leaving who needs to sell everything in their apartment, so u can pick up everything u'll need for cheap! and most of it is usually less than a year old anyway!

Jobs r pretty easy to come by in Melbourne, provided u dont mind workin hard! check out as this is by far the biggest website at the moment... i'd even suggest applying to a few positions before arriving, so that way u get a head start on the process! theres always heaps of jobs in about sept/oct - with the lead up to xmas huge for retail work! job market is pretty flat b/w late Dec early Jan with everyone hungover...

minimum wage is reasonable here - enough to live comfortably off anyway - depending what ur doing! its pretty crazy actually, as u can even make decent coin stacking shelves at a supermarket ($15/hr+ casual rate)... bar work is long hard hours but pays pretty well (often $20/hr) as is hotel work! hospitality is def ur best bet for work, as being on a work holiday visa restricts ur prospects (ur only allowed to b with any one employer for 3 months!), also getting holidays or even relocating cities is much easier if u can pull a beer!

drop me a line if u wanna know more, as Im Melbourne born-and-bred...

have fun, its a wicked place!:)
