Although I'm not young I am new to travel and I'd like your opinions and experiences regarding all-inclusive resorts. I'm specifically looking at Mexico/Caribbean/etc.

Any info would be helpful!

Hi Novice (Nancy),

Welcome to Travellerspoint!

There are heaps of people here who haven't travelled a lot and actually come here to get some support from others. That is what it is about; sharing experiences :)

I don't have too much experience with all ins but a few friends of mine have been on a couple down to the Caribbean area. Generally, they really enjoy them but it depends on what you are after. There is a lot less chance of interacting with the locals if you go for this type of travel just because you want to spend as much time whereever you have paid for all in to make the most of the money spent. In general, that is what I enjoy most about travelling, the meeting new people and especially the locals, but not everyone agrees. A lot of people love it though. If you are content to spend most of your day hanging around a resort pool and eating/drinking there, it is a great way to travel and especially to really relax!

Depends what you are after I guess...

Look forward to seeing you around and hearing what you decide to go for!

Cheers and happy travels!

Sam

Thanks much for the info -- and for making me feel welcome... Yes, I'm looking for a relaxing, as worry-free as possible vacation, so it looks like I'm headed in the right direction.

If anyone has a good/bad experience with Iberostar Paraiso in Cancun, please let me know. Or any other all inclusive.

Thanks again!
Nancy:)

Hey novice,

Welcome to the site. I'll have you know that everyone is really a novice since no matter how much you've travelled one trip is never the same (not nearly) s another.

As for your trip. Iberostar paradiso is a nice place. I do business in the area and have found that there are most of the all inclusive hotels are quite predictable and the descriptions provided by the promoters are usually quite accurate.

There are other options available for those who want a worry free vacation yet who wish to experience more of the area than an all inclusive hotel type vacation cn offer.

Check out www.liahonaquest.com (my company, hope you don't mind the plug) or www.ecoyuc.com. Most of the time companies of this nature will have trips that are very close in price to the all inclusive vacations.

Either way the Mexican Carribean is a wonderful place and will provide you with a great vacation regardless of how you wish to do so.

Cheers,
Ryan
