i am traveling to croatia march 31, 2007.
i am going with my cousin and meeting a cousin in zagreb for the first time.
we are staying in zagreb two days then to slunj where my family is from originally for 5 days.
any tips of places around to see and such.
I've only been to Dubrovnik which is a really beautiful city. Although it is quite touristy you can still get a strong sense of the history of the place, particularly the recent history. Once you delve a bit deeper you see beyond the marbled floors and can still see buildings damaged by the war in the early 90s, for example. A road trip up or in your case down the coast would be beautiful. We travelled a little way up and could have spent much more time exploring the coast and beautiful islands. Also, if you get a chance Bosnia is a really fascinating place to visit. Culturally it's very different to Croatia and it really has some of the most stunning scenery I have ever seen. Sparkling green rivers and the like.
Have a great trip!
Visit Plitvice Lakes - very nice place
