Hey there,
I've got 10 hours in Honolulu, Oahu on my way to New York City. As I will be just transiting will it be possible for me to leave the airport and explore for a bit. Will I have to go through immigration etc?! Is it worth it. I was thinking of heading to Pearl Harbour and possibly Waikki beach for a bit... Any one got any thoughts??

Cheers

WEll Hello there... It depends on what you want.. pearl harbour is an option but then it depends on what time you get there cause it is always full!. I would go to waikiki beach but then it takes about a half hour bus drive if you take the city bus and a 1 hour bus drive if you take the shuttle bus that goes to different hotels and hostels.. In waikiki, you have lots of shops and restaurants and of course the beach.. For the rest, I don't know if you will have to go trough immigration.. Have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask...

Don't want to be a downer, but I'd be tempted to take a good book or catch up on some sleep!
After 9 months travelling RTW, me and my family had the worst airport experience of our lives entering Honolulu airport to fly to LA. We stood in line for FOUR hours, our bags were x-rayed three times and we were picked out of the line at security when they heard my 8-year-old daughter speak - we're English. Thank you Richard Reid! The children were in tears by the time we walked onto the plane with five minutes to spare before it took off.
Pearl Harbor was interesting and atmospheric, but you'd be hugely disappointed with Waikiki beach after almost any beach in Australia.
