I am finally doing it...chucking in the job and taking the trip of a lifetime! I have been inspired by the entries in this forum, and have decided that I should be brave and take the plunge. I actually really love my company and my job (Marketing) but there is always another out there. For the short term, I need to feel free again...we're a long time dead!
I've travelled extensively before (usually 4-6 weeks at at time, mostly every year), but I havent travelled for months at a time since I was about 23. And I've never travelled alone before.
I will be in Santorini from end of May with a friend, then on my own. I plan to go to Rhodes and then Marmaris in Turkey. I will spend about 2.5 weeks in Turkey, and am looking for travel partners.
I'll then work in London for about 3 months, before heading to New York and Boston for 2 weeks. In November, I'll head down to Mexico and Guatemala for a Spanish course etc, and then on to Lima. Plan to go overland to La Paz, then fly to Santiago & then down to Punta Arenas for 3 weeks in January '08. Then fly to Buenos Aires & travel overland to Rio via Uruguay and Paraguay. Then finally back to life Melbourne.
