Hi guys, just wondering if there are any problems/requirements for taking camping gear on a plane, flying to Lima with aerolinas argentina from OZ. Taking a tent and alcohol burner, have been told that u can't take used cookers because of left over fuel... any truth to that?

I've flown with a Trangea alcohol burner several times now. So long as you clean out all the fuel and pack it into checked luggage - you should be fine. Certainly don't try to carry the fuel. I'd suggest calling the airlines before hand though as I haven't tried carrying one for a few years and rules do change.

I managed to fly from Dublin to Stansted with a carry on tent including its metal pegs.
Got to Stansted, rushing for a connecting flight, assumed I could do the same thing, was promptly turned back at security and told to check the tent in. Ended up missing my fligth and had to sleep in the airport overnight.

Should have just chucked out the pegs really I suppose

Don't see why you should have any problems taking an alcohol burner, so long as you check it in. Don't try to take any butane gas canisters though, they won't let you!
