Hello all!

I'm travelling around south east asia from mid september until early december. Does anyone know of much this would cost? I thinking of taking around £1,500 - £2,000. Does this sound enough?

Thanks

firstly, which countries do u intend to go to? travelling can cost u quite a bit, so u need to decide how many countries u want to go to. also, the expenditure per day varies from country to country, so u need to decide on the places u want to go to. for example, cambodia is very cheap, and singapore and HK are rather expensive.

secondly, i'm assuming that u are going to be travelling budget, and staying at budget accomodation/hostels, right? if u're not fussy, ur money will last you longer.

1500 pound over three months gives you about 16.60 pounds a day. That's almost twice what I budget in the region. So you can travel worry-free and live pretty large on this kind of money for 3 months.

It's probably ok as long as you don't plan on visiting Japan! ;)

Well I don't know how much that is in US dollars ... but I am going to Japan for 5 weeks ... I just got a second job ^^ So I'll have around $4,000$ but I was going to go with 2,500$

Is there anywhere in Japan that is as cheap as the likes of Thailand ?
I know Tokyo is expensive , but what about the rural parts and the more scenic places ??

It depends what your tastes are. We had an amazing meal of noodles in Kyoto for £3 each... so fresh and the flavours out of this world. Likewise we had a similarly great chicken meal with rice in Tokyo for the same price. However, we spent upto £5 on a beer!

It's hard for me to say really. I had been working for 5 years so I don't travel on a tight budget. I went to Japan knowing it would cost me a lot and I was happy to pay for it. We did spend a lot of money but it was well worth it.

I would get a rail pass if you're travelling around a lot... we used ours extensively and saved a lot of money.

Not everywhere in Tokyo is expensive and similarly not everywhere outside Tokyo is cheap. Where are you planning on visiting?

Any questions feel free to send me a PM.

Am not going to Japan , i was just interested in how expensive it is as a country to travel. Am off to Thailand , Vietnam , Cambodia in a few weeks , but Ive always fancied Japan , Tokyo especially as it just seems like a city of its own .
