I know Australia is a great place where to find and watch Great whites, that is something I've always wanted and now to do ever since Jaws was released I think, and now that I finally have the chance I don't want to miss it, but where exactly should I go?
Well if you want to dive with them in a shark cage try this out... http://www.rodneyfox.com.au/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1
south australia is the place to go, trips can be expensive though. Mike ball and rodney fox are probably the 2 biggest operators.
if you wanna see one out of a cage, go play with the seals in port philip bay in victoria during the breeding season! Thats if ya don't mind beeing eaten of course.
Who you kidding , South Africa has as many Whites as anywhere. In fact the first footage of them launching out of the water was taken off seal island in the Cape. If I were you, look into SA. The good thing is that they are found in the colder waters, which happen to surround the most beautiful part of South Africa , the cape , so you a second bonus. Last I heard cage diving was happening in Gansbaai for about R700 , roughly $100 , but could be more or less to be honest.
Play nicely now.
It's just an educated guess but I think it would be much cheaper to see Great Whites in South Africa rather than Australia...
I would also go with South Africa. Having been to both, the sharks were a lot more prevelant in the waters off seal island in S.A. and the time to find them is very short. Cost was also less in S.A. with the added bonus of being in one of the most beautiful costal areas anywhere and if you go during July-Oct, you can also get great whale encounters at the same time. Hermanus and Gansbai would be my suggestions. Its an awsome experience to be in the water with these creatures.
