Lucie has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

Hi, there!

I intend to go to Thailand for my honeymoon, in the end of November.
I´m looking for a cultural experience, as well as a relaxing time (beach).

I was thinking about spending 3 days in Bangkok and a week in Phuket.

Do you think that´s a good choice?

If so, which beach in Phuket would you recommend for me to stay?

I want a calm, not crowded, clean beach, suitable for swimming.
And I´m looking for a very charming hotel, romantic, typical, but not expensive, at a nice beach.

Could you please give any suggestions?

Thanks a million for your kindness and attention!

Best regards,
Lucie

Hi Lucie,
All I can say about Phuket is don't go to Patong. It's very lively, mad busy and not romantic or relaxing at all.
That said, there are nice places on Phuket. I think the south or East of the island are nicer, but have no personal experience.
Put a general question out and see what response you get.:)

Lucie,

I'm Thai, so I hope my advice will be useful. You can browse through photos of all hotels anywhere in Thailand at www.hotelthailand.com and can just book online with special discounts.

Have you ever considered Krabi? (Krabi is wonderful, and you can rent a boat to take you to nearby islands for a snorkel or diving trip. You've probably seen Krabi; it's always photographed for postcards and any promotion of Thailand beaches!!) Rayavadee in Krabi is the most breathtaking beach resort in Thailand, and so is the price. Just by looking at its pictures might take your breath away. Who knows? You might want to change your mind and splurge here for a couple of nights and then head off to your Phuket later on.

Though I'm not a big fan of Phuket myself, there are certain hotels that are really charming. Avoid staying on Patong beach. It's the night center of everything. It's where you have to go, but do not stay there.

Here are some hotels I recommend for your once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon in Phuket:

Number 1 choice -- The Racha

Racha island is a tranquil, tiny private island 12 miles off Phuket with the most beautiful water you'll never forget in this life. The island is stunning with white sandy beach and cozy and romantic resort design. If you want a true getaway for your honeymoon, away to the paradise, away from it all, this is definitely your answered prayer.

Number 2 choice -- The Chedi

the beach is nice, and the hotel/resort itself is ideal for a honeymoon (small, private & romantic)

Number 3 choice -- Sheraton Grande Laguna

you'll enjoy the facilities here. The lagoon setting is fabulous

Hi Lucie,

Congratulations

Phuket has a wide range of options - but its difficult to suggest somewhere that is "a very charming hotel, romantic, typical, but not expensive, at a nice beach."

I'm not sure what your budget is, but for a place that satisfies the above criteria in November on Phuket, it will want to be substantial!

The Baan Krating Jungle Beach Resort is pretty good value and is well hidden away on a nice (though small) stretch of beach. You can see their site here: http://www.baankrating.com.

I'd agree with the comment about avoiding Patong - it is a hole.

There are hundreds of places to place on Phuket but it ain't cheap! If you give me an idea of what kind of money you want to spend, can give you some more suggestions.

Hope this helps

Check this one out. This tiny private island gives you the feel of a Maldives island, with a much more whiter sand. Plus, it's only 9 kilometers off Phuket!

Yes, avoid Patong beach like hell.
If you want a clean and quite beach with moderate budget, try Kata.
Phi Phi is also good if you stay away from the main village.
Khao Lak is a nice place, about 1 hr drive from Phuket.

Try these websites:
