hi im going to vietnam on the 18th june with a friend. we would like to spend a lot of the time in a beach town. we fly into ho chi minh and are thinking of taking the train to nha trang-is nha trang the best place to go or is there somewhere better. also would you recommend the train if you have used it? and any budget hotel recommendations? thanks! x
Vietnam has many beautiful beaches as Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Phu Quoc in the south. You can take a train go to Muine. You'd go to the Sai Gon railway station to buy your train ticket - Train is the good choice for travelling in Vietnam, cheap, safe and can look everywhere when you are on the way.
Hi Susannah, I returned yesterday from Vietnam, and stayed for the last 5 days at Nha Trang, the beach there is great and there are lots of things to see and do, the mineral springs, where you can have a mud bath are great and also a really fantastic cable car ride that stretches across the sea from nha Trang to Vinpearl island, not to be missed. There are so many travellers there and lots of places for a drink and night out, I dont know how old you are but would think that you are young, so this place will really appeal to you. My husband and I have travelled for years and we are both in our 60,s but still like a good bar with music and good company, even though we stick out like sore thumbs!!!
Mui Ne has another long lovely beach but it is much quieter than Nha Trang and more difficult to get around as the beach stretches for 10 klm and it depends where you stay there. We stayed at the Ngoc Sin the red windmill, opposite the Hannf cafe where the bus stops. It is run by an american and we payed 25dollars a night for the two us us with breakfast. The rooms are great and there is a terrific swimming pool but as with all upper hotel it is expensive to eat there, by vietnamese standards.
At Nha TRang we stayed at the Seaview hotel, 50 meters from the beach, with a swimming pool but no breakfast for 15 dollars a night for us two. You can walk onto the beach, turn right and head for the second set of beach umbrellas and beds outside the Loisianne restaurant, where you can use there sun-beds around a really good pool as long as you but there food and drink. The sea at Nha Trang is turquoise and a lovely little breeze sweeps up around lunchtime, sorry to have gone on a bit but if you need anymore info, pm me. Stokesy
hey, you will enjoy nha trang if you liked the costa del sol, or any of those places. i found it to be a little tacky. the beach a little grubby. and the weather was shite. although the nightlife and the food was fantastic. mui ne beach was much nicer, but there was no nightlife and again the food was fantastic. i would do a bit of both beaches and maybe try phu coc island aswell.
