hswa has indicated that this thread is about USA

Hi i am planning to travel with my partner in october/november time for about 2/3 weeks down the east coast of US and wonder if anyone could suggest the states that are a must? Have in mind NY, Boston and Wasington but looking for a few more! We will be starting in Chicago (as he lives there!) Then fly over to NY and go from there...I think!

Please Help!!

Thanks ;)

Sounds like good choices so far. Take time in these areas and hit the small towns along the coast as you travel from city to city ( if you are driving) If you must see more states, go up to Vermont or New Hampshire if the trees are still vibrant. If you travel to Virginia and North Carolina they have oceanside towns and comfortable weather in Oct / Nov. Ask you friend in Chicago. Chicago is such a great city you may be getting a tour of Chi-town!

Hi hswa,

You've made some great choices - Boston and NYC are must sees, Washington is also very interesting - you could easily spend your 3 weeks in these places.
The New England region is absolutely gorgeous in the fall time. I agree with Kristen about seeing some of the smaller towns if possible...maybe stopping at a b&b or two along the way if you're driving...very romantic. :)
You might also want to think about going up to Montreal, it's not too far from Boston and it will give you a taste of French Canada.

You might want to head down as far south as North Carolina, South Carolina's coast is pretty nice as well.

By all means, you must see Savannah, GA ! A truly southern city.
It is beautiful with many old homes, Spanish moss hanging from the
trees, city squares with fountains, and lots of great restaurants.
Ever heard of Paula Deen - go to the Lady & Son for TRUE southern
food (but go very early!). Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House (a restaurant,
not a boarding house now) southern food served family style-delicious.
Lots of good seafood most anywhere.
Did you see "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" - filmed in
Savannah and shows a lot of the area. Also, go out to Tybee Island
--it's a good beach and good seafood.
Enjoy your southern trip!
