I'll have to say Ketchup - the thick, sweet North American kind. The bland "tomato sauce" they serve elsewhere just doesn't do it for the occassional plate of french fries. Mostly, though, the food I have elsewhere is such a pleasure to try I end up missing it when I get home.

And Heather - Neal says exactly the same thnig about potatoes, and goes into fits of extasy if his meal comes with 2 silly boiled little things.

When I was in New Zealand I missed Hellman's mayonnaise and Walker's crisps. I'm going back there next year and have already decided I am going to have to get some shipped over!

Tasty malaysian food is what i miss most while travelling. Other cuisine just isnt as TASTY!

And of course, I do miss the authentic Cornish Clotted Cream! Cant find it in Malaysia!

When Im somewhere hot for a long time, I start craving cold weather, wrapping up warm in boots and big coats...funny.

I make an issue of not taking any foodstuff with me when Im away but when I was in the latter part of my brazil trip I got given a tiny pot of marmite and I was in complete ecstasy!

When i was travelling New Zealand i came across loads of English food shops. They sold all the classic like walkers and Hellman's.

When im away I miss and crave for a nice cold bottle of original Lucozade. I drink about 3/4 bottles of the stuff a day at home.

I did a month volunteer thing in Costa Rica last summer and it rice and beens 3 meals a day. it was good and I liked it but after about 1.5 weeks in all I wanted in life was peanut butter and crackers. I will never travel without peanut butter again.

When i am away mountain biking i miss;

Squash - as i am always putting electrolyte powder in my camel back adn when we are not riding it's mostly beer and juice.

Shower - only because i always feel that anybody else shower isn't as good as your own

but any kind of fatty food is the main one as we are only on a strick diet to imporve out performance/recovery.

Other than that everything else is widely available.

PEANUT BUTTER...i definatly had 2 jars sent to south america for my host family to try....too bad i downed that peanut butter faster than any dulce de leche in sight....and you usually gain weight off of the local cuisine when you travel!

other than food...travelling just makes you realize that however much you cant wait to get away from the normal, it's ingrained in you....never gonna leave that small town...as much as i HATE to admit it - Tallahassee, Florida is in my heart!!
