I love wild geography, so anything with mountains in it makes me want to travel there. LOTR for sure makes me want to see New Zealand. Warren Miller Ski films make me want to go everywhere that you can ski!

After I planned my trip to Chile I found out Seven Years in Tibet was filmed there, so I rented that and watched it. That made me want to go to Chile, but also to Tibet (seeing as I liked Chile so much)!

As per TV shows - Amazing Race is the best TV show on the air. I loved that last week they were somewhere where I had been! I kept saying to myself "I've been there!" Hilarious!

And I love Pilot Guides (called Globe Trekker in the US). Ian Wright is so funny on that show.

"The Spanish Apartment" (L'Auberge Espanol) is almost as good as getting to Barcelona yourself. It's about this Frenchman in his twenties who goes to Barcelona on an exchange and moves into a group house with: an Englishwoman, a Danish man, a German, an Italian, a Spanish lady...and their various friends and lovers. The result is a hilarious mix of cultures, a universal coming of age story, and a gorgeous look at Barcelona.

Needless to say, I'm saving all my pennies for Spain!

I like a good news story.

It makes me grab my cameras and notebook and stuff a toothbrush in my top pocket for emergencies.

It's so cool that so many people enjoy the Amazing Race! I missed last week's episode but I'll be staying home to catch today's for sure! I forgot to add Sleepless in Seattle... I really like that movie... should say love that movie... and I now want to visit Seattle and Baltimore (where Meg Ryan's character is from).

Plus I can't believe I forgot about Cinema Paradiso! That is one of the cutest movies of all time. I think Sicily is shown in different lights in Cinema Paradiso and Malena. Malena was such a sad setting, whereas Cinema Paradiso, although it did show the place and people in a somewhat similar sense, showed Sicily as somewhere nostalgic despite the negative aspects.

And last night, for the second week in a row, the Amazing Race went to somewhere where I have been!

Bariloche, Argentina is SO beautiful, like Lake Tahoe or Kelowna, BC but with German architecture and Spanish residents.

Of course, seeing it on TV again made me want to go back there. The restaurants are SOOO good and inexpensive.

I really want to participate in the Amazing Race! Tuesday's episode was as usual amazing! It really lives up to its name. Too bad Canadians arent' allowed... or are they? I need to know!

I just saw another movie that made me want to visit a particular place: Before Sunset. It's the sequel to Before Sunrise with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy... I saw that one as well and they both make me want to just wander the streets of Vienna (B. Sunrise) and Paris (B. Sunset). I like the whole aspect of getting the feel for a city by walking the streets like a local would.

Ok, well this is a little embarrassing ... but I'm never quite sure if it was 'The Road to Morocco' .... yep, the old film with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope ... soooo corny but great fun! and the line from a song in it '"... like Webster's dictionary, we're Morocco bound ... " (a reference to the leather binding on the dictionary, in case you're wondering), or if it was Crosby Stills and Nash's 'Marrakesh Express' that got me to Morocco but whatever it was, it got me there and it was fantastic!!

Two French movies come to mind, The Big Blue (Le Grand Bleu) and Marius and Jeannette, one makes me want to go diving and the other one makes me want to go home to Provence!
