RFritz has indicated that this thread is about China

Hey Everyone,
I am thinking of going to China in 2008 at the time of when the Olympics will be on. I'm not going for the olympics this is just when I would have the hance to go so I am wondering if anyone thinks this is a good idea? I understand it will be very busy in Beijing including getting there but would you think everywhere else the prices will go up and it will be busy. I wou; dlike to spend a few days in Beijing but would spend most of my time in more rural areas as well as along the silk road.

Im just having doubts now I think prices will rise and it will be busy and difficult to get around and was just wondering what people thought.
Thank you
Romy

Hi all;

I think you are right when you conclued prices will rise.
It's logical, if i were businessman i'd do the same.
Except flights will be full and / or expensive i also guess
these kind of events are attracted by people "who want to make money" in a differnt way, i mean think about criminal activites..for example pickpockets..
But hey...you can expect them everywhere..

According to me you already made up your decision.

Hope you will have a good trip coming up/ maybe earlier go to China a suggestion??

Best grtz,

Frank.

Yea u are right the prices will go up, I'm in Beijing at the moment and the hostel that I am in has upped its prices by 400% going fron Y50 to 200Y per night in a 6 bed down, so I am guessing this will happen everywhere!

Beijing will do a crowded city during the Olympics. Acutally many chinese outside of Beijing have a plan to join the carnival. But if your aim don't point to BJ, I think you may have chance to go around China at a suprising low cost, especially for the rural area. Why don't go Shanghai or Zhejiang, or Anhui to see the charming towns/villages with hundrends of years.
