Travel Forums Asia volunteering in Thailand

Hey guys!

I've been travelling in South East Asia for the last couple of month and am currently staying in Pakse, South Laos and on my way back into Thailand, because my visa expires soon.
As probably almost everyone who travelled here I really enjoyed the people of SEA. And I still got some time left, so I would like to volunteer somewhere for at least a month. Are there any other options then teaching english?
I wanted to ask if anyone could recommend any places to go to, ask, call or write to, particularly in Thailand. I just don't know where to start.
Thx a lot, Ben!

Ben,
I have a few suggestions for volunteering in Cambodia and will send you the info in a PM.

What about this place, Benny?

There is a childrens home, near the Burma border. U can volunteer for 120 bahts per day. As far as I understand, that includes 3 vegetarian meals per day, and accomodation. I have not volunteered there, because I am overdosed with childcare responsibilities already. I picked up a flyer for it, in Kanchanaburi.
A lot of the people who live there are single mothers, from Burma. This organisation is the often the only way they can survive.
U can volunteer whatever skills u feel would be useful and stay as long as u want.
Here is their website.

I will private mail u the email address, of the woman who runs it.

Ben

Check out the Volunteer newsletter on the following website:

Then check out my own blog and photos.

Whilst you said Thailand, I would recommend Preychrouk school (near SIem Reap, Cambodia) with all my heart :)

Keith and I have just spent an amazing 6 weeks there and it was the most rewarding experience of our lives.

Please do not hesitate to be in contact if you would like any more info.

Time is the most precious thing that we can give the people of SE Asia. From one volunteer to another, thank you for your kind heart to consider this.
