AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, March 31, 2007 - Travellerspoint.com announced today that starting on the first of the coming month, a change of ownership of the website will be effected. Stepping down after many years of successful growth will be the Daams brothers, to be replaced with a new CEO with visionary ideas for explosive growth for the website. The spokesperson for the new CEO, reportedly already known on the travellerspoint website by the username of "Sander", gave us the following statement:
"Although the travellerspoint website is, at the moment, going through a period of unparalleled growth, our new CEO believes an opportunity has arisen in the marketplace that can propel travellerspoint straight into the number one position of a hitherto unexplored market segment, namely that of travel-dating. For this purpose, the website will be retooled to become the premier travel-dating website in the world. Much of the current functionality on the website can be used most effectively within the new concept. Photo upload is of course essential to allow potential matches to see and judge each other's attractiveness, "travel blogs" will be renamed to "date blogs", to allow our members to report on the success of various dates, while the recent trip mapping feature will allow for a radical new concept, whereby speed-dating will be merged with a RTW ticket to allow our members to date potential matches straight around the world in a very short timespan."
To boost the initial membership of the restyled travellerspoint.com website, a large marketing campaign will be rolled out, primarily in India, targeting men aged 35-50 to inform them of the large amount of single travelling females from around the world which can be found at this new dating website. Members of the travellerspoint.com website speculate that the influx of such, which could be seen on their message board in recent months, was due to a leak at the advertising agency in New Delhi, but ensure us that where before these members were treated with scorn, under the new concept they would be welcomed with open arms.
Further measures to ensure the success of the new dating concept will be to end the membership of all those people who have not designated in their profiles that they are "single", thereby ensuring that matches will be more swiftly made. This measure will start taking effect at 00:00 GMT on April 2, thus allowing sufficient time for those non-single members interested in maintaining their presence on the website to dump their current partner and change their status to "single".
When asked what the plans for the future of travellerspoint held, CEO Sander answered thusly, "Total world domination! MUAHAHAHAHAAAHAAA!"
I for one welcome our new evil CEO.
