Flight Centre found us a cheaper flight to London going thru Brunei. since Geoff's passion is Wildlife Photography, we've shifted our dates to allow for 2 weeks in Borneo!!!! We'll only be in Brunei for our first and last days, so any suggestions on stores for his Tokina Lens?
w/ such a limited time, we've decided to concentrate on Sabah. any suggestions? you can see some of Geoffs nature photos at:
We were in Brunei for three days at the end of last year and really enjoyed a boat trip up the river to see the Proboscis monkeys. We went at sunset on a boat tour and saw about thirty monkeys in the two hours we were out. We booked through a tour agency and I'm quite sure we overpaid as there seemed to be plenty of water taxis taking people to the same places we went for probably a lot less money. The closest we got to the monkeys was about 10 metres and they NEVER stopped moving!!
Thank you for your response, I read your blog and is seems a lot of things were overpriced. we're already bringing our own snorkle, aside from that, any other suggestions, things you wish someone had told you?
did you see any other wildlife in KK? better way to see the water village in Brunei? how are the ATMs? did you see any camera stores, do you think Brunei had a decent Duty Free selection? any mosque particularly beautiful--or something not worth the hype?
we've shifted our dates for moving overseas ahead by a week to give us 2 weeks in Borneo to see wildlife (we'd asked the agent for a night somewhere duty free...but Brunei was cheaper than the singapore we expected, serendipity). we're a bit frazzled as it means we leave town next wed! so the more detail that you can give would be a lifesaver!!
cheers, anna and geoff
