Hong Kong Beaches?

Travel Forums Asia Hong Kong Beaches?

Hey there!

I'm wondering if there are any nice clean beaches close-ish to central Hong Kong. I'm an Aussie about to leave London after a year and a half and head back to Melbourne, so it'd be great to have some colour when I go home!!

Any other suggestions of where I could get a cheap flight and stop off for a couple of days for some sun in Asia??

I've been to Thailand twice so I'd rather check out somewhere else!

Cheers for your help!

I wouldn't head to HK with the intentions of finding fantastic beaches. I did find Shek O a nice enough beach for an afternoon of relaxing though, but I wouldn't base my holiday on it.

Go to the islands! Ferries are cheap and quick.

Lamma has some nice beaches. Also Cheung Chau is pleasant enough. Bring your walking shoes as there is also some fantastic hiking on the islands. If you can find one of the brochures called "Hong Kong Walks" from a tourist info office or a big hotel, there are some really nice walks on the islands that are nicely outlined. There are also signposts along the walks that integrate with the brochure, so you don't really have to worry about getting lost.

Stanley on Hong Kong island is also a nice place with a relaxed vibe
