I have only ever had one discussion with somebody I see daily, about travelling. It was most unsatisfying. It went as follows.
A neighbour asked me, if I have any hobbies. I told her, I like travelling. She said, then u should try Club Med. I started to explain, that that is not what I mean by traveling. She cut in, and said, that it would suit me, because they have a baby sitting service. Then off she went, to clean her windows. :(
This web site is the only place I get to talk about traveling. ;)

I talk about all kinds of things with my friends, but travelling is pretty low on the list. This year, we all happen to be headed off to Europe at different times, so it's nice to be able to share info and give advice. Still. we each travel very uniquely - so TP is still my daily travel fix. But I like it that way!

Luckily I have a few work and non-work friends who are really into travelling to so I get to talk about it alot. Plus with my girlfriend, who not only loves travel but works in the travel industry.

There's a couple of people at work who are big travellers as well and we often trade coments/thoughts etc. And probably at least half of my friends (admitetdly they are scattered all over the world, and i'm rarely in one place long anyway, so the daily thing isn't applicable) are travel type people of one sort or another anyway, so it often comes up.

I do get asked about travelling with surprising reguality by people i have the most contact with - colleagues and customers - although in almost all cases they just want to know when/where i'm next dissappearing so they can try and stop me going - or at least fix me things to do & work on the way/when i'm there - (and in the other cases, they want to get rid of me so actively encourage my travelling...).

But in general terms and when i'm out and about in Sweden etc, or at my parents or the like, travelling doesn't come up often and i don't bring it up.

This website is for me where I talk about travel. In my surroundings are not a lot of people that are really interested in travel. That means that they mostly go for the travelpackage, that is not really my thing.

When I talk to people about my love of travelling I always feel like im boring them. I love it so much that most of the people I chat with never seem to share the same enthusiasm. Luckily I do have a couple of friends who share the travel passion! Have to agree though TP is definately the best place to get chatting about it though!

Occasionally, providing it is relevant I might drop a little anecdote into a conversation..."that reminds me of the time I was in Vietnam and blah blah blah".....It probably drives my non-travelling friends mad, but fortunatly, quite a few of my friends are interested in the world, even if they can't afford to, or are somehow unable to go to the places they would most like to.

When we are watching TV and it shows somewhere foreign, be it Peru, Namibia, Lithuania, Spain, my housemate asks me if I've been there.....Usually the answer is "no but REALLY REALLY I want to go there"

I sometimes chat on MSN to a couple of the people I met travelling.
Its so nice to have TP for that though.
