I am currently a university student in the United States (Arizona State University) and I have the opportunity to study in Hong Kong for a semester next year. I would be attending the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a Finance student. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the school/area - whether it's safe, fun, has a good reputation. Also, I was wondering what general attitude Hong Kong natives have toward Americans. If anyone has any feedback it would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!
Polytechnic University, hk ppl usually call it poly. poly is located at Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) area, where it is a crazy shopping area. Big malls, local malls...etc. HK natives are usually friendly and most importantly they do speak engish ! All the street sign and public transportation are written in both Chinese and English.
Lan Kwai Fong is like an International (clubbing)area where as u can meet alot of english speakers there! and Lan Kwai Fong is located at Central, Hong Kong Island. it only takes abt 10mins from TST to Central by Subway (MTR)
Hong Kong is a city with great fun! and stuffs are real cheap compare to US. Good luck to you!
p.s. im a Chinese American who were borned grow up in hk
Poly U is right at the Kowloon end of the Cross-Harbour Tunnel (with almost a few dozens bus lines) and next to the Hung Hom train station (the Kowloon-Canton Rail line...to Shenzhen...Guangzhou/Canton and beyond). It's a busy area.
